Trailblazer - Gremlin Graphics Download
Ever fancied racing across the mystic pathways of space through unkown galaxies, boldly blazing a trail where no other trail has been blazed before?

Well now's your chance.....

Trailblazer is a three dimensional, one or two player, spilt screen race game in which you must travel as fas as you can along a straight spacial pathway. The pathway is split into twenty one different sections, each must be completed within a given time limit. If the clock runs down before you get to the finishing post, the game terminates. However, if you manage to pass the post in time, extra time is added to you total allowing you to tackle the next section of the track. There are no other objects on the course to worry about (only the other racer if two platers are playing), it's just you versus the clock.

The racing tracks are made up of many metal slabs, although not all the slabs are of the same metallic composition. Each metal is a different colour and has a different effect on the racing craft (see panel for details).

The Trailblazer race craft have been specially designed for space path racing and look rather like footballs. They stick to the surface of the path as they zoom down it, but can move left or right with a push of the joystick. Pushing forwards or pulling back on the joysick makes the craft accelerate or decelerate, and pressing the fire button makes it jump a short distance.

There are two main racing options presented on the title screen: Course Practice gives one or two players the chance to race over any three of the path sections. You are given an unlimited supply of jumps and with 99 seconds to complete each course.

Action Trailblazer can be played either on your own or against another player. However, you are only given 30 seconds to complete each course and a limited supply of jumps, so when you run out that's it - you can't jump!

BROWN slabs make up the bulk of the track. Going over them has no effect on your craft

BLUE slabs make the craft bounce.

GREEN slabs instantly increase your craft to maximum velocity.

WHITE slabs increase your velocity to 'warp' speed although the action is cancelled if you touch a black, purple or red square.

CYAN slabs reverse you controls and cosequently cause a lot of hassle. BLACK slabs are really holes in the road which must be avoided at all costs. If you fall into one, time is lost before your ball is thrown back onto the course.

PURPLE slabs stop the ball in its tracks

RED slabs slow you down to minimum speed.

GREY slabs announce the beginning or end of a race track

Summer Olympiad - Tynesoft Download
As you read this, all being well, the 1988 Summer Olympics will be well under way. You, and up to five other people, can now take the place of an all-round athlete who has qualififed to compete for his country in five events. Having entered your name(s), the flag of the country you wish to represent (one of 14 available) is chosen. The events you complete in are then selected and the Games begin.

Skeet shooting comes first. Clay pigions are launched from left and right, just asking to be shot. You aim with a joystick controlled cursor from seven standing points. If all pigeons are hit, a bonus clay is awarded.

The coordinated sprint and leap of the hurdles is the most strenuous event you have to face; its rigours are simulated by wagging the joysick from left to right, timing presses of the fire button to jump the obstacles.

The complicated movements of the triple jump are negotiated in a similar way, speed being gathered on the run up by joystick waggling. As near to the take-off board as possible, the fire button is held down to give the disired angle and the hop, step and jump movements are then made automatically.

>From a 20 metre tower, you have to perform to perform as many aerial twists and spins as possible to impress the diving judges. From launch, movements are selected by combinations of 'stick direction and fire button. A clean entry in the water is needed to gain a respectable mark.

The noble art of fencing is the final event, played against a computer controlled swordsman. Defensive and offensive moves are available, and you aim (quite simply) to hit your opponent more than he does you.

Gold Silver and Bronze medals are awarded after each event and accumulated over the selected sections.

Bruce Lee - Americana Download
As the legendary martial arts expert, your aim is to discover the secret of immortality and gain infinate riches by infiltrating the wizard's fortress and finding his secret treasure cavern. The fortress is boobytrapped with electrical charges and defended by the wizard's two guards - the Ninja and the Green Yamo.

Moving from one cavern to another, you must collect the laterns which will open the door to the next chamber. You can punch and kick the Ninja and Yamo, who can survive two and three blows respectively before they disappear to recuperate. Bruce can take three blows from his assailants before losing one of his five lives, but a touch of an electrical charge or spikes means instant loss of a life.

This is what Paul Sumner of Zzap 64 had to say

I first played this game about five years ago on the Atari, and thought it was great. Although Bruce Lee isn't as graphically or sonically good as some of the more recent games on the market, it's far from being a dusty old fossil, and still manages to be very addictive. Just trying to work you way past the various traps and pitfalls, the vicious Yamo and his bokken stick wielding companion, and then finally killing the evil wizard, will take many hours of play, every second of which you'll enjoy. Go out and buy this game now, it's well worth the £1.99 price tag.
